Statistical information proves that the incidence ofcancer mortality is on the increase, and the possibility of any successful cure is essentially related to early diagnosis. In the fight against cancer, the general practitioner finds himself in the front line. He must regard himself as a person responsible for its early diagnosis or for directing the patient on the paths of its recognition. He must possess the knowledge required for early diagnosis of cancer and keep himself alert to the possibility of malignancy. He must seize anv opportunity of examining his patients with this in mind.
